Terni, 17 Aprile 2012 - Continuano a tirare dritto per la loro strada gli Steelers e grazie ad una prestazione attenta e disciplinata costruiscono l'ennesimo successo stagionale, il terzo, che li porta in vetta alla classifica nel girone E (a pari merito con i Black Hammers Ostia, ma primi per averli sconfitti nello scontro diretto del 3 Marzo scorso) e contestualmente, in chiave playoff, consegna a loro la libertà di sognare qualcosa di più. I ternani stavolta hanno avuto la meglio sui giovanissimi Marines, farm team della compagine laziale di IFL. I nerocelesti romani, che possono vantare una media d'età a roster davvero bassa, hanno però grandi margini di miglioramento e stanno inseguendo come primo obiettivo quello di guadagnare esperienza. This was an important game for us as we needed to see how we would respond to a tough loss to the Gladiators 2 weeks ago. We wanted to establish ball control early and dominate in the running game.
Era una partita importante per noi perché avevamo realmente bisogno di vedere come avremmo risposto ad una sconfitta difficile da mandar giù contro i Gladiatori due settimane fa. Volevamo mettere in opera da subito il possesso palla e dominare nei giochi di corsa.

Now that we have completed 4 games, I am very happy with the play of our defense. I can say with confidence and certainty that we have the best defense in our division. My assistant coaches Lamont Smith and Alessio Limongelli do a great job of preparing the defense every week. Our team is very young, we only have 4 guys who ever played football before, so I would really like to see us play a little more consistent and limit our turnovers and penalties. Even in our one loss, we produced far more offensive yards than our opponent. However, with a young team that should improve as we gain more experience in games.
Ora che abbiamo disputato quattro partite, sono molto felice del gioco espresso dalla nostra difesa. Posso affermare con fiducia e certezza che abbiamo la miglior difesa del nostro girone. I miei assistant coaches Lamont Smith e Alessio Limongelli svolgono davvero un grande lavoro di preparazione della difesa ogni settimana. Il nostro team è molto giovane, soltanto quattro dei nostri ragazzi hanno giocato a football prima d'ora, quindi mi piacerebbe davvero poter vedere i miei ragazzi giocare in modo più costante e ridurre al minimo le perdite di possesso ed i falli. Persino nella nostra unica sconfitta finora, abbiamo macinato più yards in attacco rispetto al nostro avversario. Comunque sia, abbiamo ottenuto tutto questo con una squadra giovane che dovrebbe migliorare man mano che acquisiamo maggiore esperienza nelle partite.

Right now with this win it is our goal as a team to win our division. The guys have been working hard and for many of them it is their first time playing, I think winning a division title would a great reward for all the hard work.
Giusto adesso, con questa vittoria, il nostro obiettivo come una squadra è vincere il nostro girone. I ragazzi hanno lavorato duro e per molti di loro questa è la prima volta che giocano, penso che vincere la propria division sarebbe una grande ricompensa per tutto lo sforzo da loro sostenuto.

I think many guys contributed in many ways in this game. 4 guys scored TDs The offensive line played very well, our LBs and defensive backs did a great job against the pass.

How would you rate the performance of your opponents? Come giudichi la prestazione dei tuoi avversari?
The Marines have yet to win a game and yet they impress me. I think it is VERY important to teach football the right way and not necessarily do things that are just very easy and quite frankly boring. The Marines are a very young team, and If they are reading this I just want to tell them to keep working at it, they are doing things the right way and in the future these guys are going to have a better understanding of football than most. Their QB is 19 I think, He has a great future in football and I think we will be hearing from him one day in the 1st division.
I Marines non hanno ancora vinto una partita, eppure mi hanno colpito. Penso che sia molto importante insegnare il Football nel modo giusto e non necessariamente fare solo le cose più facili e francamente più noiose. I Marines sono una squadra molto giovane, e se leggeranno queste righe voglio solo dirgli di continuare così, stanno facendo le cose nel modo giusto ed in futuro questi ragazzi avranno una comprensione del football maggiore rispetto alla moltitudine. Next week we play the Black Hammers. This is the most important game of the season. It is always tough playing the same team a 2nd time. I am very sure the Black Hammers will be playing with much passion and looking for a little revenge. Im sure this is going to be a great game.

I want to thank the federation for honoring Joe Avezzano with a moment of silence before the game. I remember when I was kid seeing him on TV and he was always animated and passionate. I saw a recent interview of his, and we share the same exact goal for what we want to accomplish here in Italy, and that is to grow the game of football.
