Bologna, 5 Giugno 2012 - In questo infausto periodo per l'Emilia, flagellata dal dramma e dalle conseguenze delle scosse di terremoto che hanno portato morte e disagi sulla popolazione di questa terra e messo in ginocchio una parte dell'economia emiliana, arrivano anche delle risposte positive da parte di quelle realtà-simbolo che testimoniano la grande forza d'animo, la dignità e la voglia di ricominciare di questa gente. Una di queste realtà è rappresentata dalle tante squadre di football americano che giocano in Emilia e che danno lustro al nostro sport preferito, consentendo a tanti atleti in gamba di mettersi in luce, sia per meriti sportivi che umani. In un weekend in cui i Knights hanno dovuto momentaneamente rinunciare al loro Quarto di Conference contro i Bills, dedicandosi ad emergenze ben più significative, ed in cui Hogs e Panthers hanno devoluto l'incasso del loro incontro alla protezione civile, le belle notizie vengono anche dal Centro Sportivo Dozza, home dei Neptunes. I felsinei contribuiscono a portare alto il nome della loro regione affrontando e battendo i rivali Hurricanes e guadagnandosi un posto di rilievo nel tabellone dei playoff di quest'anno. I blues bolognesi, da qualche anno ai vertici delle statistiche della categoria, sembrano essere ormai maturi per un salto di qualità importante che potrebbe portarli a rendere realtà le ottime promesse che si son venute a creare durante le ultime stagioni. Staremo a vedere. Intanto raccogliamo le impressioni di un soddisfatto e lungimirante Bob Ladson, headcoach dei Neptunes Bologna, nel post partita contro gli uragani vicentini:
Hi Bob. It's a pleasure to have you here back again. A comment about this game against Hurricanes. How did you live the game? Some important play was significant for the final result? Tell us…
We got a really big win against a very good team. I think that by getting the first turnover of the game and scoring a touchdown really got the Neptunes off to a great start! Everything seemed to go right after that first interception. When the Hurricanes got the ball back on offense, we then got another turnover on another interception. Before you knew it we were winning 22-8 and the Hurricanes were never able to recover from those turnovers.
Abbiamo ottenuto davvero una grande vittoria contro un'ottima squadra. Credo che aver causato il primo turnover e aver segnato subito dopo il primo touchdown abbia costituito per i Neptunes un ottimo inizio! Dopo il primo intercetto, tutto sembrava andare per il verso giusto… e quando gli Hurricanes hanno riportato la palla in attacco, abbiamo ottenuto un altro turnover sull'ennesimo intercetto. Praticamente prima che ce ne rendessimo conto, stavamo già vincendo 22-8 e gli Hurricanes non sono mai stati in grado di recuperare a quel punto..
Which has been the secret of this great win?
The secret to the game was to play really good football in every aspect of the game. Offense, defense and special teams,but most of all, no turnovers on offense. That was the biggest difference in the game. the turnovers. we were able to get some turnovers while limiting ours.
La chiave di tutto è stata giocare un ottimo football in ogni aspetto della partita. Attacco, difesa e special teams, ma soprattutto non andare incontro a alcun turnover in attacco. Questa è stata la più grande differenza in partita: i cambi di possesso. Siamo riusciti a ottenere da loro diversi turnover, limitando invece i nostri.
MVP of the game? Some particular players to be mentioned?
The MVP of the game could go to a few players of the Neptunes. W.R Michaeler R.B/F.S Lo Biondo and also C.B Morelli. I think i would give the M.V.P of the game to C.B Morelli because he had two interceptions in one game! It's difficult to get one interception in a game, especially during the playoffs. He got two and those interceptions also resulted in touchdowns for the Neptune offense.
L'MVP della partita potrebbe andare a diversi giocatori dei Neptunes. Il WR Michaeler, il RB e FS Lo Biondo e il CB Morelli. Penso che personalmente lo darei a Morelli perché ha fatto due intercetti… E' difficile fare un intercetto in partita, soprattutto durante i playoff. Lui ne ha fatte ben due…ed entrambe alla fine si sono concretizzate in altrettanti touchdown per i Neptunes..
How would you rate your opponents' game? Your personal "congratulations" go to?..
The Hurricanes played hard from the beginning of the game until the end. They never quit playing football. My personal congratulations goes to R.b #2 Federico Bortoli I thought that he did a really good job of running the football. He has great natural running instincts as a R.b. I wish him and the Hurricanes luck for the future! In boca al Lupo Hurricanes!
Gli Hurricanes hanno giocato duro dall'inizio alla fine del match. Non hanno mai smesso di giocare a football. i miei personali complimenti vanno al loro Rb #2 Federico Bortoli…ha fatto davvero un ottimo lavoro nelle corse. Let's look a little on what happened this weekend. How would you rate the overall scores of this playoff round? Which results surprised you most?
I thought that all of the scores this weekend was what i expected. when the playoffs start you really find out who the great teams are, especially based on the teams season records. I thought that our score was the most surprising! I didn't think that we would win by such a large score. but then again we did get some early breaks during the game.
Tutti i risultati di questo weekend son stati come mi aspettavo. Quando i playoff iniziano, scopri realmente quali sono le grandi squadre, specialmente basandosi sulle statistiche della regular season. Credo che il nostro risultato sia stato il più sorprendente! Non pensavo che avremmo potuto vincere con un margine talmente ampio. Ancora una volta siamo riusciti ad ottenere dei cambi di ritmo importanti durante il match.
Who, in your opinion, is the favorite team to win the NineBowl? Who do you see as a surprise instead?
It wouldn't be fair to say that i don't think that the Neptunes are the favorites to win it all because i'm the coach, but i do think that we have a good chance. The Bills are a great team! I saw them earlier in the year when they had a scrimmage against the Knights from San Giovanni. The Bills play a very physical style of football. They might have the best R.b in serie B William Petrone. He is a very big and physical R.b. Who knows, maybe the Neptunes will play against the Bills in the semifinals of serie B.
Non sarebbe giusto dire che non credo che i Neptunes siano i favoriti per la vittoria finale… perché sono l'allenatore, ma penso che abbiamo buone possibilità. I Bills sono una grande squadra! What would you say about your season so far? How far can you go? Where can you get? At this point…you must dare…do you agree?
Our season has gone pretty good so far. I think that what happened to the Neptunes last season against the Blue storms of gorla minore really helped us grow as a team. we weren't ready as a team to take that next step to reaching the finals. I really feel that this could be our year, but we still have some more games to play first.
La nostra stagione è andata abbastanza bene finora. Penso che quello che è successo la stagione scorsa ai Neptunes contro i Blue Storms di Gorla Minore in realtà ci abbia aiutato a crescere come squadra. Non eravamo pronti, come squadra, a fare il passo successivo e raggiungere le finali. Adesso invece sento che questo potrebbe essere davvero il nostro anno, ma abbiamo ancora diverse partite da affrontare…
Do you think that..there is anyone, among your players, that could deserve a possible call-up in the national team…(especially among young players)?
I think that we have two players who really deserve a shot at making the national team. W.R Thomas Michaeler and R.B/F.S Giovanni Lo Biondo. They have both dominated at their positions all season long! I think they had something 5 Touchdowns between the both of them today. It's a shame that players in serie B don't get enough recognition or exposure as the serie A players. I know that there are quite a few good players on the serie B level who should be getting a chance to play for the Italian national team. they just need the chance to show what they can do to the coaching staff of the National team.
Credo che abbiamo due giocatori che meritano davvero una chance per la maglia azzurra. Il WR Thomas Michaeler e il RB/FS Giovanni Lo Biondo. Hanno entrambi dominato, ciascuno nel proprio ruolo, per tutta la stagione! Credo che tra l'uno e l'altro abbiano contribuito ad almeno 5 touchdown di questo incontro con gli Hurricanes. E' un vero peccato che i giocatori in serie B non riescano ad ottenere il giusto riconoscimento o visibilità a sufficienza come quelli di serie A. Son convinto che ci sia qualche buon giocatore a livello di serie B che merita indubbiamente la chance di giocare per il Blue Team. Hanno solamente bisogno di avere la possibilità di mostrare cosa possono fare per lo staff tecnico della Nazionale.
If you could get back to the beginning of the season…what would you change in your team?…where would you insist on more?...
What would i change on my team right now? I really wish that i had access to a gym right at the field. I would make sure that everyone would workout with weights to keep themselves strong for the entire season. We need more conditioning.
Sai cosa realmente vorrei cambiare nella mia squadra in questo momento? Vorrei la possibilità di avere una palestra esattamente attaccata al campo! Solo così sarei certo che tutti possano lavorare duro coi pesi per mantenersi in forma e forti per l'intera stagione. Abbiamo bisogno di una maggiore preparazione a livello fisico.
If you could steal a player (to an opposing team) and have him in your roster, who would you like?
This is a really tough question, but based on out team needs i would take R.B's William Petrone or Federico Bortoli. I didn't see all of the players in serie B but i did see these players. They are both very good players and this is a very important skill position for a football team.
Questa è una domanda davvero difficile…ma in base alle attuali necessità della squadra…prenderei dei running back come William Petrone o Federico Bortoli. Non ho visto all'opera tutti i giocatori in serie B, ma ho visto loro. Entrambi sono ottimi giocatori ed occupano un ruolo di grande importanza per una squadra di football.
Now the playoff board says "Skorpions". What kind of game will it be?
I expect a very good game against the Skorpions. They have a very good football tradition up there in Varese. I'm familiar with the Skorpions from years past and i expect that they will be ready to play. I'm happy with what the Neptunes have accomplished in my third season as coach and second as head coach. Our record speaks for itself. 16-2 regular season record! Better than any other team in bologna, but we never get any recognition for our achievements. The only way i think we can get any respect is by winning the championship in serie B. Maybe then we can get some respect as a team.
Mi aspetto una gran partita contro gli Skorpions. Hanno un'ottima tradizione di football lì a Varese. Ho familiarità con gli Skorpions degli anni passati e mi aspetto che siano pronti a questo impegno. Sono contento di quello che i Neptunes hanno realizzato finora in tre stagioni come allenatore e due come headcoach. Il nostro record parla da sé. 16-2 in regular season! Meglio di qualsiasi altra squadra a Bologna, ma tutti questi traguardi raggiunti non ci vengono mai riconosciuti! Credo che l'unico modo attraverso il quale potremmo ottenere più considerazione sia vincere questo Campionato di serie B. Forse solo allora potremo ottenere un certo rispetto, come squadra.
