Bologna, 18 Aprile 2012 - Partita combattuta quella di domenica scorsa tra Neptunes e Knights. Condizionata senz'altro nella prima parte dalla pioggia e comunque dal terreno non in perfette condizioni, la sfida tra le due compagini emiliane è rimasta in equilibrio solo per un quarto di gioco. Dopo essere passati in vantaggio, infatti, i 'Tunes hanno capitalizzato ed amministrato questa situazione favorevole quasi fino al termine della gara, momento in cui l'orgoglio dei ragazzi di San Giovanni in Persiceto, privi comunque di qualche importante titolare, è venuto fuori prepotentemente e stava per costringere i cugini in blue a temere un finale palpitante e dall'esito incerto. Così non è stato. I padroni di casa hanno vinto per 14 a 6. Cerchiamo di scoprire attraverso le parole di Bob Ladson, headcoach dei Neptunes Bologna, come è andato questo derby:

Thanks for having me back again. The game was pretty much as i expected. It was a hard fought game from the beginning until the end between two tough teams. Just like the Ravenna Chiefs game both teams battled hard. Fortunately we were lucky enough to come away with the win.
Grazie per avermi invitato nuovamente qui. La partita è andata praticamente come mi aspettavo. E' stato una match molto combattuto dall'inizio fino alla fine tra due squadre toste. Proprio come la sfida contro i Ravenna Chiefs, entrambe le squadre hanno lottato duramente. Menomale che abbiamo avuto la fortuna di uscirne con una vittoria.

About the game itself. because of the weather conditions passing became very difficult for both teams to do. For us passing is a big part of our offense and the bad weather really neutralized our offense. We were very fortunate to have our running game work just enough to put some points up on the scoreboard to win the game…I thought the defense played really well. They were on the field for most of the game and didn't give up a single point until the very end of the game.I am disappointed with the defense because we gave up a few of chances to close the game with turnovers but we didn't capitalize on those chances. We had two dropped interceptions and a missed fumble recovery. we need to take advantage of those opportunities, especially when we have a chance to seal the victory.
Per ciò che riguarda direttamente la partita, beh… a causa delle condizioni climatiche avverse per entrambe le squadre era difficile poter lanciare. Per noi il passing game è una parte fondamentale del nostro gioco offensivo e il cattivo tempo ha davvero neutralizzato il nostro attacco. Fortunatamente il nostro gioco attraverso le corse ha funzionato abbastanza da poter segnare quei punti che ci hanno permesso di vincere la partita. La difesa ha giocato molto bene. Son stati in campo per la maggior parte del match e non hanno mollato un sol colpo fino al termine della partita. L'unica cosa sulla quale mi hanno un po' deluso è stata il non sfruttare determinate occasioni per chiudere la partita con dei turnover, ma non siamo riusciti a capitalizzare queste possibilità. Abbiamo avuto due intercetti droppati e abbiamo mancato la possibilità di recuperare un fumble. Dobbiamo cercare di approfittare di queste opportunità, soprattutto quando abbiamo la possibilità di mettere al sicuro la vittoria.

I guess a key moment of the game was when the Knights were closing in to score a touchdown and possibly take the lead of the game.But on 4th down and short yardage the defense once again came through and stopped the Knights. That defensive effort was very big for the team.
Credo che un momento chiave della partita sia stato quando i Knights si stavano avvicinando per segnare un touchdown che li avrebbe portati certamente a condurre la gara. Ma al quarto down e con poche yard da coprire, la difesa ancora una volta è riuscita a bloccare i Knights. Questo sforzo difensivo è stata una gran cosa per tutta la squadra.
The MVP of the game? Il migliore in campo?
For this game I would say that the entire defense deserves to be MVP of the game and also runningback Lo biondo. He did an excellent job of running the football all game long, especially on a very wet and slippery field. My hat goes off to the Knights because they really played hard and tough football from the beginning until the end of the game.
Per questo match direi che la difesa intera merita di essere l'MVP della partita e anche il runningback Lo Biondo. Ha fatto un ottimo lavoro di corsa per tutta la partita, specialmente su un campo molto bagnato e scivoloso. Tanto di cappello ai Knights, perché hanno davvero giocato un football duro e tosto dall'inizio fino alla fine della sfida.

Now that we are at the halfway mark of the season i hope that we can continue to play better and be more consistent with all three areas of the game offense,defense and special teams.

Our next game should be interesting because we beat the Jokers easily and i want to see if we can show some character by not taking the Jokers lightly. As you know on "Any given sunday" you can win or you can lose.

The last question is very interesting because i don't only care about my family and friends, i also care about each and every one of my players. Sometimes i am really hard on the players and maybe they don't quite understand, but i'm only tough on them because i want them to be successful players not only on the football field but off of it too! My coach once called this tough love! It's important for the players to know that it's not only about football, but it's also about life.It's important that we be there for each other on and off the football field! Interessante quest'ultima cosa… perché non mi importa solo della mia famiglia e degli amici, mi importa anche di ciascuno dei miei giocatori. A volte sono davvero duro con loro e magari loro non riescono a comprenderlo, ma io sono duro con loro, soltanto perché voglio che siano dei giocatori vincenti non solo sul campo di football, ma anche fuori!
